Luckily, it has leather seats. Textile fabrics will simply rip at some point, requiring complete recovering. Leather is much more robust, and the wear is often a superficial discolouring. I ordered a restoration set from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colourlock.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colour Lock<\/a> with the following ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leather cleaner<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning spirit<\/li>\n<li>Sanding pad<\/li>\n<li>Cleaning brush<\/li>\n<li>Leather Fresh dye in the appropriate colour (black)<\/li>\n<li>Leather protector (a care product)<\/li>\n<li>Leather shield (a sealant)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The original situation:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2466\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stoel1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stoel1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stoel1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stoel1-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The process starts with cleaning, first with the leather cleaner, a wet cloth, and then the cleaning spirit. In between, the sanding pad can be used to smoothen rough areas, but this was barely necessary. Once everything is dry, the dye can be applied. Colour Lock recommends doing this twice, first a larger area with circular motion and then a more direct application to the affected areas.<\/p>\n<p>After the dye has thoroughly dried (48 hours), the sealant and protector can be applied. The protector is a general leather care product that can be used regularly on all leather parts to keep them in good condition.<\/p>\n<p>The final result:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2488\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/compact_stoel_na.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"1280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/compact_stoel_na.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/compact_stoel_na-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/compact_stoel_na-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On my 530i, the process was a bit more involved, as the wear was much more pronounced (please excuse the blurry picture):<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2489\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/530_stoel_voor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/530_stoel_voor.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.wittwer.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/530_stoel_voor-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A single treatment step resulted in a visible difference in appearance between the area with the most wear and the surrounding leather. I twice sanded the entire area and reapplied several layers of dye.
