My Bundeswehr army

My 20mm (1/72) Bundeswehr Cold War army has reached an intermediate goal: I have finished a mixed company-sized armored force, consisting of the following:

  • Panzerzug, 4x Leopard 2 A4 (Revell)
  • Panzergrenadierzug, 3x Marder A2 (Revell, modified) with Elhiem infantry
  • Panzeraufklärungszug, Leopard 1 A4 (ESCI) & Luchs (Revell)
  • Unterstützungszug
    • Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard (Altaya, repainted)
    • Panzerpioniergruppenfahrzeug Fuchs (Revell)
    • Materialtrupp LKW 7t gl (Revell)
  • Panzerabwehrhubschrauber PAH-1 (Airfix, modified)

Other possible additions could be

  • Bergepanzer M88 (S&S models)
  • Panzermörser 120mm on M113 chassis (Minor conversion required, based on Italeri M106) – the Bundeswehr used many M113 variants
  • Beobachtungspanzer M113, resin model by The Hobby Den or conversion kit by Modelltrans, they also have kits and conversion sets for other vehicles
  • Panzerschnellbrücke Biber (Revell, currently sold in a set with the ATF Dingo)
  • Fuchs Ambulance (Revell) – Revell also produced other Fuchs variants (basic Transportpanzer, ECM version, NBC version)

I’m also considering to add another Luchs and Leopard 1. When looking further than an armored force, there are more possibilities. S&S models make the LKW 1,5t GL (Unimog type 404, used e.g. as VHF radio truck) and LKW 2t GL (Unimog 1300, used in many roles), and probably still have a mold for the Iltis. Revell make or made the LKW 5t gl and 10t gl. I, however, am more interested in a Fallschirmjäger (airborne) force. S&S have the KraKa in several variants. Revell makes the Bell UH-1D. The CH-53G was produced by Revell (using the Italeri CH-53 mold) and Airfix.
